They sound the same at first glance. Alive. Living. Nearly interchangeable words. And both sustainable forms of existence. But a deeper dive into their meaning reveals so much more. Being alive can simply imply breathing and moving through the everyday motions of life as it mundanely unfolds. Living, on the other hand, means you are consciously pursuing and designing your own interactive life experience. You are the creator and orchestrator of your different performances, huge debuts, and epic milestone occasions. You even get to decide when it’s time to step away and wind down to a more leisure mode and enjoy rest and relaxation.
You are President and C.E.O. of YOU. That’s: Clarifying. Everything’s. Optimum.
Consciously Designed Living is how I define one as being fully appreciative of the gifted experiences of the good, the bad, and even the uneventful moments. The artisans of this lifestyle know all too well how to savor time with nature, love their family, relish a wonderful vacation, and even delight in epic adventures. Every day to them is precious. Because they’ve grown to marvel and be perceptive connoisseurs of the gift of time.
Consciously Designed Living isn’t conceding that bad days don’t exist. There are more than enough less-than-ideal days for everyone. It is instead, forming the premise that rising deep from within us—like an aquifer, bubbling spring water beautifully from the earth’s floor—is a place of sincere gratitude of our living bounty. When we approach every moment from this place of gratitude, our outcome is always met with a deeper understanding of the intended life lesson, regardless of the challenges of the journey traveled.
Consciously Designed Living means you’re paying attention to every day with a knowing purposefulness. You’re designing experiences. You’re living life. You’re paying attention to the people in your life. You’re not letting life pass you by. Here’s one my favorites…you’re living your Bucket List every single day. You are not waiting for “one day”… because every day is your “day.” Living is what life is about. If you’re reading this, you’re alive. People say, “I feel so alive!” And that’s great, and probably means they're living life to its full potential.
The point of Consciously Designed Living is not to let life become stagnant. To always have excitement in front of you. Remember what excited you when….? Is always a good question to ask one self. For me personally, I always loved two things—writing and riding. It was very simple. I have been a life-long writer and equestrian. I received an offer from a recording studio to purchase a song that I’d written as far back as in middle school and I’ve been on the back of a horse since I was a toddler. These are my passions and to this day I enormously enjoy both of these early discoveries and delights.
I reflect on people I admire, like Art "Karts" Huseonica, who has been a life-long explorer and adventurer and who has never let his dreams and ardor take a back seat. I recently saw a picture he posted in his earlier days and he is still doing now what he was doing then! It warmed my heart that he never let life steal his appetite for adventure. He made sure HE molded life, life didn’t MOLD him! That is LIVING! How did he view the recent 2017 eclipse? By climbing Borah Peak in Idaho, an event he trained and prepared months for and will remember for a lifetime. Karts Bucket List is a list in progress at any given time and continually growing. This is a person I admire. This is a person LIVING!
LIVING is about LOVE, fervor, zeal, devotion, enthusiasm, and passion. It involves an eagerness to pursue your dreams and fulfill your callings. Every day, every moment, every second, every one of us are aging TOGETHER. This, my friends, we share. There’s only one way. It’s forward. No going back. Life can be a spectator sport. You can stand still and watch it all happen in neutral. But you can also be a participant in your own ongoing adventure and rev it up in high gear!
Today, right now, we’re all the youngest we’ll ever be in this very moment. Every day gives us the gift of 86,400 seconds or 1,440 minutes or 24 hours. How you use it is up to you. There’s being alive and there’s LIVING!
I hope you’ll get to the LIVING part with total enthusiastic abandon—and do so with flair, finesse and FUNctionality!
